Classes suspended in Mindanao due to ’Vinta’
Tropical storm “Vinta” prompted suspension of classes in Mindanao schools on Thursday.
Mayor Sara Duterte announced the suspension of classes in all levels in Davao City starting December 21 until December 23.
Mayor Duterte advised school officials to issue their respective notices regarding Christmas parties scheduled on the affected dates to guide the students.
However, Mayor Duterte said there would be no work suspension at Davao City Hall and encouraged private companies “to prepare a plan for their respective employees.”

Northern Davao del Sur – Pre-school
North Cotabato – Pre-school
Bukidnon – Pre-school
Misamis Oriental – Pre-school
Camiguin – Pre-school
In its 5 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Vinta intensified into a tropical storm as moved westward at 18 kilometers per hour (kph).
Vinta packed maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.

Pagasa raised Signal No. 2 is hoisted over Surigao del Sur; and Signal No. 1 over Dinagat Island, Surigao del Norte, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Davao del Norte, Compostela Valley, Northern Davao Oriental, Northern Davao del Sur, North Cotabato, Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental, and Camiguin. /kga
