Retired police official shot dead in Antipolo City

A retired high-ranking police official was killed after a lone gunman shot him several times in Antipolo City.

Supt. Serafin Petalio II, Antipolo City Police Chief, identified the victim as 59-year-old Sr. Supt. Ruel Pama, a former chief of the National Capital Region Police Office’s Internal Affairs Service.

Petalio said Pama was about to board his Toyota Hi-Lux parked in front of a house located at TOCS Ave., Virginia Summerville in Brgy. Mayamot around 7 p.m. on Tuesday when a still unidentified suspect emerged and shot him several times in the head.

Case investigator PO2 Ronald Manaig said the victim was shot thrice from behind.

Pama was rushed to the Antipolo Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Recovered from the crime scene were four pieces of empty cartridge possibly from a caliber 9mm.

Petalio said that a thorough investigation of the case is underway although a land dispute could be among the motives in the killing of Pama.                 /kga
