Electrical failure halts MRT-3 train, about 1K passengers unloaded

Almost 1,000 passengers were offloaded as a train suffered an early Thursday morning “electrical failure” at the Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT-3) line in Quezon City.

An MRT-3 report showed that the service disruption happened 6:10 a.m. at the southbound section of the GMA-Kamuning Station.

The report also stated that the electrical failure was caused by “worn out electrical subcomponents” such as “insulators, regulator, chopper, and carbon brush.”

This latest train trouble brought to 22 the total number of recorded glitches that the MRT-3 line suffered for the month of December.           /kga

Affected passengers were transported to  subsequently loaded six minutes after in a different train, the advisory said.
