The price for freedom is definitely higher.

In the case of Paul Matthew Tanglao, the 21-year-old grocery clerk, freedom is higher than the P31.50 retail price of corned beef he took from the grocery because he was really hungry.

Tanglao posted a P2,000 bail and was released more than a week after he was arrested.

The Metropolitan Trial Court issued the release order on Dec. 18.

A case for theft has already been filed in court.

Tanglao earlier admitted taking the corned beef worth P31.50 because he was really hungry that time.

He said he only had P20 in his pocket last Dec. 10, a money not even enough to send him home from the supermarket in Sta. Ana where he used to work to his house in Pembo, Makati.

The case is already set for hearing. /jpv
