The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) is set to meet with the 52-year-old taxi driver, who was seen in a viral video being assaulted by a woman during a purported traffic altercation along Congressional Avenue, Quezon City over the weekend.
LTFRB Spokesperson Aileen Lizada told reporters that Virgilio Doctor is expected to appear at the LTFRB office on Monday afternoon.
“Kakausapin ko ang driver,” Lizada said.
(I will talk to the driver.)
The video, which was posted on Sunday by a certain Joshua Baluyot and went viral on social media, showed the woman took a golf club and hit the taxi being driven by Doctor following an alleged traffic row. The woman was allegedly asking the driver to step down. But when the driver opened the door, the woman supposedly slapped him. Doctor consequently stepped out of the taxi, holding his cheek and limping; and eventually sat on the pavement.
The video has 214,000 shares as of this posting. /kga
