Two arrested for selling P60,000 worth illegal firecrackers online

MANILA, Philippines — Just days before the New Year holiday, two suspects were arrested for selling P60,000 worth of illegal firecrackers online, the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) reported on Thursday.

According to the PNP-ACG, a cyber patrol was conducted on the “Online Paputok & Pailaw” Facebook page on Monday, where cybercops monitored the public posts of suspects advertising illegal firecrackers.

An operation led to the arrest of two individuals in San Fernando, Pampanga, on the same day, and the following illegal firecrackers, amounting to P60,000, were seized:

PNP-ACG also said that the suspects, both 43 years old and Makati City residents, violated Republic Act No. 7183, or the Act of Regulating the Sale, Manufacture, Distribution, and Use of Firecrackers in relation to Section 6 of Republic 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act.

Meanwhile, the PNP-ACG noted that a total of P76,400 worth of illegal firecrackers were seized from November 20, 2024, to December 25, 2024, including the following:
