Robbers used homeowner’s ladder in breaking in, taking P1M in cash, valuables
MANILA, Philippines—Police urged homeowners to put their aluminum ladders under lock and key, away from outsiders, after another robbery in Quezon City where robbers were able to enter the house using the victim’s ladder, the city’s anti-theft chief said.
Chief Insp. Rodelio Marcelo said more than P1 million in cash and valuables were stolen from the house of Cynthia Reyes inside Phil-Am homes subdivision sometime before midnight of May 24 to 1:30 a.m. of May 25. The robbers apparently used Reyes’ aluminum ladder to open the window of her bedroom, gain entry and take her valuables.
A police report said the robbers carted away more than P1 million worth of cash, jewelry, expensive bags, watches and ATM cards.
The robbery was the sixth such case since March where millions of pesos had been lost to robbers.
According to Marcelo, the thefts and robberies happened in gated subdivisions where private security groups were paid to secure the area.
Investigation showed that different groups were involved in the robberies.
