Gov’t employee found dead in motel room in Quezon City

A government employee was found dead and naked inside a motel room before dawn on Saturday, hours after he checked in with a woman who has since disappeared.

The victim was identified as Virgilio Estrada, 59, a resident of Lourdes Street in Victory Heights, Caloocan City.

A farm supervisor of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, his body was found inside one of the rooms of an apartelle in Barangay (village) North Fairview, Quezon City.

Case investigator Police Officer 2 Rommel Mayo said Estrada, who is separated from his wife, checked in with a still unidentified woman at Yaya’s Apartelle on Labayane Road at 1:45 p.m. on Friday.

He reportedly told the staff that he and his companion would be staying for 12 hours.

After midnight on Saturday, a room girl knocked on the door of the couple’s room to let them know that their time was up.

When no one answered the door, she opened the door with the help of a security guard.

They found Estrada lying on the bed with a towel covering his privates. His companion was not in the room.

Mayo said he was waiting for the autopsy results to determine the cause of death, noting that Estrada did not have external injuries.—Julie M. Aurelio
