Irritated by “smuggler” tag against him, Senator Panfilo Lacson vowed on Friday to take action “sooner or later” amid allegations linking him and his son to cement smuggling in the country.
“Smuggler? I’m absolutely sure I never called Faeldon or any Customs official to intercede for my son in any of his transactions with BOC (Bureau of Customs),” Lacson wrote on Twitter.
Faeldon is resigned BoC Commissoner Nicanor Faeldon, who earlier called Lacson a “smuggler” after accusing the senator’s son, Panfilo Lacson Jr., of allegedly smuggling a billion-worth of cement into the country.
Asked if he was hurt by Faeldon’s “smuggler” tag, Senator Lacson said in a text message: “Not hurt, irritated. Any assault on my integrity irritates me, to say the least.”
“And I won’t take it sitting down, maybe not now, but I will definitely take action sooner or later,” he added.
The senator has yet to respond when asked if he would file charges against Faeldon.
Senator Lacson had earlier accused Faeldon of allegedly receiving P100 million “pasalubong” or welcome gift when he assumed the post at the BOC.
