Cops nab Grade 9 Pangasinan student for bringing gun to class
DAGUPAN CITY, Pangasinan—Police on Thursday (Aug. 3) arrested a Grade 9 pupil in Burgos town in Pangasinan province for bringing an unlicensed gun to school.
Sr. Inspector Eddie Suyat, Burgos police chief, said the home-made 9-millimeter hand gun, was discovered by a teacher, Evelyn Cabalbag, inside the 16-year-old boy’s bag after she confronted him for not paying attention in class at the Jose Rivera Bonsay National High School in Pogoruac village.
Suyat said the teacher thought the student and his seatmate were watching a video on a mobile telephone inside a bag, while she was explaining the day’s lesson at 11:20 a.m.
But she discovered the gun neatly wrapped with a shirt.
The teacher confiscated the gun and reported the incident to the school principal, who called the authorities.
Suyat said the student was brought to the police station and a case for illegal possession of firearms had been filed against him.
