Caraga warned of heavy rain, landslides

Heavy rain and thunderstorms caused by a low pressure area (LPA) may trigger flashfloods and landslides in the Caraga region, the weather bureau said on Sunday.

The LPA was spotted 335 kilometers north east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its 5 a.m. weather bulletin.

According to Pagasa, the weather disturbance will bring cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers in Zamboanga, Northern Mindanao, and the Davao regions. The rest of Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, parts of western Luzon and the Visayas will experience light to moderate rain and thunderstorms caused by southwest monsoon or habagat.

Light to moderate rain will affect Metro Manila, parts of central and southern Luzon, the Bicol region, Mimaropa, and Northern Samar. CBB/rga
