16-year-old girl found dead in Pangasinan rice field

DAGUPAN CITY — A 16-year-old girl was found dead Thursday at a rice field in the boundary of Bugallon town and San Carlos City in Pangasinan province, police said on Friday.

The body of Vanessa Amansec, a resident of Antipangol village, was naked with several stab wounds on the chest. Her remains were discovered by a tricycle driver, who was herding his cow to the rice field at 5:57 a.m.

Police said that Amansec may have been raped before she was killed.

Amansec was last seen in a computer shop in the village at about 10 p.m. on July 19.

A dagger with blood stains was found at the computer shop owner’s house, and has been submitted to the police crime laboratory for analysis.

The computer shop owner and other persons of interest have been invited by the police for questioning.
