Burglars kill Pangasinan village official

DAGUPAN CITY, Pangasinan —A village councilman of Pozorrubio town in Pangasinan province was shot dead on Tuesday (July 18) by suspected burglars he was chasing after they robbed his son’s house.

Oscar Repancol, 64, former village chief and currently a member of the Manaol village council, died in a hospital from gunshot wounds.

Police said Repancol ran after the fleeing thieves at about 4 a.m. and was shot multiple times by one of the suspects.

Recovered from the crime scene were eight empty cartridges from a .45 caliber pistol and two deformed slugs.

The suspects fled with a mobile telephone, two wallets with an undetermined amount of money and other valuable items.
