It takes partnership to fight street crimes.

On Wednesday, Grab Philippines and the Philippine National Police – Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to ensure road safety and security.

Under the MOA, the PNP-HPG should provide Grab drivers with training on road safety and security, as well as anti-carnapping, anti-highway robbery, and relevant anti-criminality orientation seminars. The agreement also includes provision of technical support in areas of anti-criminality, such as highway robbery, among others.

“This agreement is about Grab’s continuing commitment to provide safe and secure transportation to our passengers and partner drivers,” Grab Philippines country head Brian Cu said as he signed the MOA.

“We are grateful to the HPG-PNP for this partnership that will not only enhance our partner drivers’ training on road safety and courtesy, but it also provides us the means to contribute substantially in the anti-criminality drive of the Government,” Cu added.

Meanwhile, PNP-HPG Director, Police Chief Superintendent Antonio Gardiola welcomed Grab as a partner in its road safety and security initiative.

“Grab provides significant service to the Filipino riding public through its technology and platform. And I believe that they are here to stay. We welcome them as a partner in this collaboration on road safety and security that can only be beneficial to our passengers,” Gardiola said.

Although the MOA was only valid for 12 months, Cu said Grab is open to have a “long-term partnership” with the PNP-HPG.

Cu and Gardiola were among the signatories in the MOA. The signing ceremony was held at the Conference Room of the HPG Headquarters in Camp Crame in Quezon City. Rogelio Nato, Jr., INQUIRER.net trainee/JE
