NPA rebels torch Petron fuel tanker in Bukidnon

MANILA, Philippines—Suspected New People’s Army (NPA) burned a fuel tanker in Bukidnon, a Radyo Inquirer 990 AM report said Tuesday.

A Petron fuel tanker bound for Kanlilangan, Bukidnon from Cagayan de Oro was traversing the national highway in vicinity of Barangay Adtuyon Pangantucan in Bukidnon when flagged down by 10 armed men, said Colonel Leopoldo Galon, spokesman of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Eastern Mindanao Command.

Galon said that the armed men who introduced themselves as NPA rebels burned the tanker.

Authorities were looking into the angle that Petron might have failed to pay protection money to the communist guerrillas.
