Arroyo asks SC to lift watchlist order
MANILA, Philippines — Former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo asked the Supreme Court Tuesday to issue a temporary restraining order against the implementation of the watchlist order issued by the Department of Justice against her and 38 others.
She also asked the High Court to declare as unconstitutional the DoJ circular that was cited by Justice Secretary Leila de Lima in issuing the directive.
Mrs. Arroyo is asking the DoJ to issue an Allow Departure Order (ADO) for her to seek medical treatment abroad but De Lima has yet to issue one.
De Lima said she needed more documents from the Arroyo camp such as medical records and the specific country where she would seek medical treatment.
But the lawmaker said she has complied with the demands of the DoJ and submitted additional documents detailing her trip abroad.
She was placed in the Immigration’s watchlist due to her alleged involvement in the fraud committed in the 2007 election.
