Octogenarian killed in Quezon road accident

LUCENA CITY – An octogenarian was killed after a motorcycle driven by a teenager bumped into him in Buenavista town in Quezon province on Saturday, police said Sunday.

A police report said Pobleo Villaplana, 85, of Barangay (village) San Pablo, was walking along the national road in Barangay Bagong Silang in Lopez-Buenavista when a motorcycle driven by a 15 year-old boy hit him.

Police said Villaplana was about the cross the road when the teener, whose name was withheld, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into him. The victim sustained serious injuries and died while being rushed to the Buenavista municipal health center.

The teenager and his two back riders suffered minor injuries.

Police turned-over the boy to the local social welfare officer for proper disposition of the case. CBB/rga
