Woman killed, 11 hurt in two road accidents in Pangasinan

DAGUPAN CITY, Pangasinan—A woman was killed while 11 others were hurt in two separate road accidents on Thursday in Pangasinan province.

Rosalina Domingo died while being treated in a hospital in Urdaneta City after the sport utility vehicle (SUV) she was riding was rammed by a trailer truck in Binalonan town at 12:05 a.m.

The southbound truck encroached on the northbound lane of the Manila North Road and crashed onto the SUV, which was headed for Baguio City, said Chief Insp. Lovell Dalisay, Binalonan police chief.

The crash injured SUV passengers Nick del Rosario, 52, Catherine Berongoy, 23, couple Alfonso and Ma. Vivian Borlongan, and their daughter Ethel Majarlica Borlongan, 18, and Herman Ilagan, 46.

Dalisay said the truck driver, Noel Ramirez, 46, had been charged at the prosecutor’s office in Urdaneta City with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and multiple physical injuries.

Also on Thursday in Malasiqui town, tricycle driver Mario Tagulao, 53, and his passengers Marlita Tagulao, 50, and Danilo Bulatao, 39, were injured when their ride collided with a motorcycle in Barangay (village) Polong Norte at 12:50 a.m.

Also hurt were motorcycle driver Elpidio Segundo, 67, and his backrider, Arce Cayago, 50.

Police said both drivers did not have licenses./rga
