Residents of Calamba, Laguna province, voted in a plebiscite for the conversion of the town to a city. The majority vote ratified Republic Act No. 9024, also known as the “Charter of the City of Calamba,” signed by then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on March 5, 2001.

Palawan province was liberated from Japanese invaders.
