Mabuhay Miles Elite Invit’l tees off Nov. 4 at Eagle Ridge GC
THE 2011 Mabuhay Miles Elite Invitational golf tournament tees off Nov. 4 at the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club in Cavite with a field of over 300 business leaders, company presidents and other captains of industry.
Dubbed “The Green Is Ready,” the one-day tournament is the 19th staging of the annual invitational for Elite, Premier Elite and Million Miler members – the top three tiers of Mabuhay Miles, the frequent-flyer program of Philippine Airlines.
Shotgun starts at 7 a.m. at three of Eagle Ridge’s four championship courses that are in play for the invitational. The ceremonial tee-off will be led by a senior PAL executive.
Competition will be in four divisions for the men plus the ladies division. Class A plays at the Aoki course, Classes B and D tour the Faldo course while Class C and the ladies tackle the Norman course.
The 18-hole tournament will be played under the System 36 handicapping format.
Among the confirmed players are senior executives of blue-chip companies in the Philippines and overseas, along with big names from the professions and government.
Article continues after this advertisementThis year, the event returns to Eagle Ridge, its home course for five of the past six years, after a 12-month break. The tournament was played at the Manila Southwoods last year.
Article continues after this advertisementA wide range of prizes await the winners, including round-trip tickets to choice PAL destinations, trophies, golf accessories, stays at top hotels and resorts and premium merchandise.
Last year, California-based businessman Vince Solon fired three birdies to beat veteran PAL Interclub campaigner Lino Magpantay and emerge low-gross champion with a one-under-par 71. Magpantay settled for the overall net title with a 68.
Both are back to defend their titles this year.
Organized by PAL, the 2011 Mabuhay Miles Elite Invitational is backed by major sponsors Allied Bank, Airbus, Boeing, GE Aviation, MasterCard International Philippines, Microwarehouse, Inc., and Petron Corp.
