TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan—The Cagayan Valley Police Office has given municipal, city and provincial police chiefs until April 15 to convert drug-affected villages into drug-free communities, or be replaced.
Only 488 out of the 1,547 villages have been declared drug-free in Cagayan Valley region, according to Chief Supt. Eliseo Rasco, Cagayan Valley police director.
Rasco issued the three-month deadline after the seizure of 70 sachets of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) in a series of raids on Friday (Jan. 13) in Aparri, Cagayan.
Police said Aparri policemen and agents of the Philippine Enforcement Drug Agency raided 12 suspected drug dens, arrested 7 suspected drug peddlers and seized the contraband.
