Cops nab suspect in slay of 2-year-old, mom in Pampanga
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Police on Thursday (Jan. 12) arrested the suspect in the Jan. 11 murders of a two-year-old boy and his mother in a coastal village in Macabebe, Pampanga.
Michael Lazaro, who was nabbed at 5 a.m. in Sitio Parcela Binasal in Barangay (village) Consuelo, was a guest at the home of the slain boy and his mother in the same village, said Chief Insp. Efren David, Macabebe police chief.
It was not clear what triggered the attack, which took place after the gathering broke up for the night on Wednesday.
Lazaro had been drinking with two other people, and the boy’s father Jojo Perez, who was found alive with deep cuts in various parts of his body by neighbors on Thursday dawn.
The remains of his wife and son were found with similar hacking wounds.
Police said the boy and his mother may have been killed at 11:30 pm.
