DIGOS CITY – The legal officer of the new province of Davao Occidental and his companion were killed in a road accident early Sunday.
Lawyer Engelbert Calgas was driving his SUV to a still undetermined destination when he missed a sharp curve near the ceramic factory of the Nakayama Technology Corporation (NTC) along the Digos Superhighway around 2 a.m.
Responders from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council rushed to the scene and brought Calgas and his companion, Ian Manalang, to the hospital but they died while being treated, according to Marcelino Niemes, the CDRRMC chief.
