A magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck the province of Zambales on Tuesday afternoon, state seismologists said.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake, which was tectonic in origin, struck 18 kilometers southeast of Masinloc at 12:07 p.m.
It originated at a shallow depth of 17 kilometers.
No damages and aftershocks were expected, Phivolcs said.
No intensities in other areas were reported.
The Philippines sits on the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” where continental plates collide causing frequent seismic and volcanic activity. JE/rga
