Closed, hardly passable roads due to ‘Nina’
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on Monday advised the public on roads closed to traffic and roads that are hardly passable due to typhoon “Nina” (international name: Nock-Ten).
In an advisory, the DPWH said eight road sections are closed to traffic—one in Region VIII and seven in Region V due to ongoing slope protection project, damage caused by previous typhoons and “possible re-occurrence of landslides and fallen trees and utility posts.”

Road, Catanduanes Circumferential Road (intermittent section), Juction Bato-Baras Road, Baras-Gigmoto-Viga Road and Jct. Catanduanes Cir Rd- Panganiban-Sabloyon Roa.
DPWH said a portion of Wright-Taft-Borongan Road in Region VIII is hardly passable due to a major road slip. Heavy vehicles may take the San Juanico-Basey-Marabut road as an alternate route, it added.
Typhoon Nina continued to weaken on Monday morning before making a fifth landfall in Batangas. Several domestic and international flights have been cancelled due to bad weather./rga
