Women, 2 men charged for killing Ormoc money lender

ORMOC CITY, Philippines — A murder complaint has been filed against a woman and two men for killing a businessman inside a carwash in Barangay San Pablo in this city last Nov. 8.

Named respondents were Remedios Saberon, 45; Michael Daclitan, 30, a city hall employee; and Mark Anthony De Guzman, 29.

Saberon is accused of masterminding the killing, while Daclitan and De Guzman have been tagged with the murder of businessman Wilson Sia, said Supt. Mariano Epilogo, acting chief of police station 1.

Investigation showed that Saberon owed P410,130 to Sia, who operated a lending business.

She allegedly hired De Guzman and Daclitan to kill Sia for P20,000.

The two men were arrested but on different offenses.

Daclitan was collared for illegal possession of firearms while De Guzman was apprehended during a buy-bust operation.

The two were linked to Sia’s killing after De Guzman was identified by witnesses as the one who rode a motorcycle around the village before the businessman was killed.

The two executed separate affidavits in which they admitted their participation in the killing and pointed to Saberon as the one who hired them.

De Guzman claimed that he acted as the driver of the get-away motorcycle while Daclitan was the gunman.

But Daclitan pointed to De Guzman as the gunman although he owned the gun that was used in shooting.
