CEBU CITY, Philippines — A portion of southern Cebu will not have power for about 10 hours on Dec. 4 due to ongoing work on the transmission line, an official of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said.

Ma. Rosette Martinez, NGCP Visayas public affairs head, said the 69-kilovolt (kV)-line that connects Naga City to Sibonga town was shut down from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. to facilitate the installation of new billing meters and instrument transformers.

Affected areas include Carcar City as well as the towns of Sibonga, Argao, Dalaguete, Alcoy, Boljoon, Barili, Ronda, Alcantara, and the greater part of Moalboal, which are served by Cebu I Electric Cooperative (CEBECO I).

While the NGCP was working on the line, Martinez said the distribution utility also took the opportunity to do maintenance activities on their distribution lines.

The official said power would be restored once the work had been completed.

“We will energize the line again when both groups are finished. It is possible that the power might come back even before 5 p.m.” she said. CBB/rga
