Low said Yolly has been undergoing chemotherapy since June and is about take the last four cycles out of 16.

He said Yolly has been an inspiration not only to him but to other people as well because of her optimistic outlook despite her condition.

“My mom has always been my inspiration and has undoubtedly has been an inspiration to many outside our immediate family. She has set an amazing example for us and despite not having much, has the most generous of hearts—especially for us, her children,” Low said.

“Amid of her condition, my mom has maintained her refreshingly positive outlook and has strongly believed that she will conquer this battle – and yes, she definitely will!” he added.

Low has explored creative means to raise funds for his mother’s medication, including a chronicle of her progress on his Instagram page and using the hashtag #LabanYolly in all of his social media posts about her.

But he admitted that the funds he had gathered were still not enough, so he put up an online crowdfunding page with a target of P500,000. As of writing, he has raised P1,200 online and P17,610 offline with 70 days remaining, according to his page on gogetfunding.com.

“We cannot do this alone. We need your support so that we can finance her long-term medical bills. We have already exhausted our health-card benefits and have been borrowing money from people just to provide for the treatment she needs,” he said.

“We still have a long fight to go and I hope you could partner with us in this battle against the ‘big c,’” Low added. YG/rga
