Former senator Ramon Revilla Jr. is set to undergo biopsy as his doctor recommended his confinement to be extended after he suffered from hypertension and vomiting, police told the Sandiganbayan.
In a letter dated Nov. 9 addressed to Clerk of Court Teresita Rosete, Police Supt. Arnel Aplid, chief of the Philippine National Police Custodial Service Unit, said the police visited Revilla at the hospital to fetch him at 1 p.m. yesterday, but Revilla’s doctor did not allow him to be discharged just yet.

Aplid said Revilla’s doctor Rolando Ochoa, an orthopedic surgeon at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Taguig, recommended him to undergo biopsy and extend his confinement for further examination and treatment.
On Nov. 5, Revilla was rushed to the emergency room of the PNP General Hospital in Camp Crame in Quezon City after he experienced vomiting, severe headache and hypertension.

Revilla was then brought to the St. Luke’s Medical Center in Taguig City onboard an ambulance.
The Sandiganbayan has allowed Revilla to remain confined at the hospital until he is allowed to be discharged by his doctors.
Revilla’s lawyer Reody Anthony Balisi earlier said Revilla was scheduled to undergo physical and neurological examinations.
Revilla’s camp also refuted hoax sites circulating false news that he has died.

Revilla surrendered and was detained at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in 2014 as he stands trial for plunder. He is accused of pocketing P224.5 million in kickbacks from his pork barrel.
Also detained for plunder is Revilla’s colleague, former senator Jinggoy Estrada, who was denied bail as he stands accused of pocketing P183.7 million in kickbacks. Former senator Juan Ponce Enrile, now out on bail, is accused of receiving P172.8 million in kickbacks.
Their plunder and graft charges were filed with the Sandiganbayan by the Office of the Special Prosecutor in June 2014. Their trial is underway. CDG/rga
