Ecija town mayor, vice mayor survive ambush in Arayat; 1 hurt

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The mayor and vice mayor of a Nueva Ecija town survived an ambush by armed men in Arayat town in Pampanga province on Wednesday (Nov. 9), police said.

Cabiao Mayor Ramil Rivera and Vice Mayor Angelito de la Cruz were traveling in separate cars in a convoy to this city when the vice mayor’s vehicle was attacked by unidentified gunmen in Tabuan village at 11:30 a.m., according to Chief Supt. Aaron Aquino, Central Luzon police director.

Rivera and De la Cruz were unhurt but the vice mayor’s driver, Ramon Regalado Agao, was shot in the back and taken to an Arayat hospital for treatment.

The gunmen sped towards Nueva Ecija in a black sedan.  SFM
