Teen kills pal

Police are searching for a 17-year-old boy who shot dead his 14-year-old friend early yesterday morning in Consolacion town, northern Cebu.

Police said the boy shot dead Jade Emnace, 14, of barangay Nangka, Consolacion, after they argued in a peryahan (carnival).

The victim sustained a gunshot wound in the chest. He was declared dead by attending physicians at the Eversley Childs Sanitarium in Mandaue City.

Police said murder charges will be filed against the teenager, whose name is being withheld in accordance with the law.

Two witnesses executed affidavit against the teenager, said Senior Insp. Wilbert Parilla, chief of the Consolacion police.

Police said Emnace and a friend went to a carnival in barangay Cansaga.

Emance was able to earn money by supervising a certain game.

Parilla said based on witnesses’ account, the teenager asked if he could replace the victim so he could also earn  money. The victim refused.

Parilla said the boy left but not after warning the boy: “Bantay lang ka (You better watch out.)”

Later, the victim went to a billiard hall and played with other friends past 4 a.m.

Police said the players inside the billiard hall argued over their bets.

Police said the teenager arrived and shouted, “Sabaa nimo uy (You’re very noisy),” before shooting the victim.

The teenager fled after the shooting and had not gone home.

Police said the teenager’s parents claimed they didn’t know who owned the gun.

Police said the victim and the suspect were out-of-school youths.
