CEBU ’S ARTHUR Craig “Igi” Diaz Pantino suffered contrasting fates yesterday in the 1st Elias Dacudao Cup in Davao.
Pantino advanced into the semifinal round of the boys 12-under but bowed out in the boys 14-under category.
In the 12-under, the no.1 seed Pantino clinched his semifinal ticket after a 6-0, 6-2 routing of Jeff Alqueza in their quarterfinals match.
He will go up against Janus Ringia this morning for a chance at the title in the afternoon.
Pantino didn’t have that much luck in the 14-under category. After going past Carlo Narca, 6-1, 6-3, in the second round, the Cebuano tennister failed to outsmart John Brian Otico, 4-6, 4-6, in the quarterfinals. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
