Summit triathlon in Bohol

SOME 68 triathletes have already signed up as of yesterday for the 1st leg of the Summit Triathlon Team Champiosnhip Series.

The 1st leg of this 3-leg series will be held at the Flushing Meadows Resort in Dauis, Bohol on Oct. 29 and 30 which marks the first time that an event of this kind will be held in the Visayas.

The event is organized by the Sugbu Triathlon and supported by Summit Mineral Water and Concepto Primero as well as the local governments of the venues chosen for each leg.

The event will basically be a team contest with each team to contain four members. Team composition could be all-male, all-female or mixed.

Teams will negotiate the standard Olympic distance of 1.5 kilometer swim, 40km bike and 10km run with the champion to be determined by a point system.

Each member of the team will be given points according to their rankings in crossing the finish line. The points of each member will be accumulated and will make up the team’s total output.

Each team’s points will also be accumulated from all three legs and the team with the most number of points will be made the champion.

Bonus points will also be given in the split rankings for the top 10 finishers.

Aside from the triathlon on the 29th, an ocean man will also be contested on the 30th.  /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
