CABANATUAN CITY, Philippines—Two unidentified bodies were found dumped beside an irrigation canal in Nueva Ecija’s Rizal town on Thursday morning.
Hours later, a policeman was shot dead in San Leonardo town.
The bodies were hogtied and bore multiple gunshot wounds when discovered along the main canal in Barangay (village) Aglipay at 6 a.m., police said.
Two pieces of cardboard were found near one of the bodies, with the inscriptions “Mamamatay ako huwag tularan (I am about to die don’t emulate me) and “Pusher ako huwag tularan (I am a pusher, don’t emulate me).”
At 9 a.m., gunmen ambushed and killed PO2 Michael Juan, 42, San Anton village. Juan was driving a motorcycle when he was attacked 300 meters from his home, said SPO2 Napoleon Manabat, who is investigating the murder.
The police have yet to determine why Juan was targeted, Manabat said./rga
