Most Filipinos approve of President Rodrigo Duterte’s impending executive order that will ban smoking in public places throughout the country, according to a Twitter poll by INQUIRER.net.
Asked about their stand on Duterte’s EO on no-smoking policy, 85 percent of respondents answered “yes,” while only 8 percent picked “no.” Seven percent answered “depends.”
The poll garnered a total of 613 votes.
The Department of Health earlier said Duterte was set to issue the EO on smoking ban sometime within the month.
Davao City, the President’s hometown, has a similar policy, which has been recognized by the World Health Organization as an effective smoke-free measure in an urban setting. YG/rga
