Despite his repetitive expletive-laced remarks and controversial statements, President Rodrigo Duterte has maintained an “excellent” trust rating in his first three months in office, according to a new Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey.

The SWS poll, conducted from Sept. 24 to 27 and published by Business World, found that 83 percent of respondents have “much trust” in Duterte, 9 percent “undecided” and 8 percent with “little trust,” yielding an “excellent” +76 net trust rating. The SWS classifies as “excellent” at least +70 net trust rating.

Duterte’s latest score is three percentage points less than his “excellent” +79 in June, but three grades higher than the moderate +26 he received before the May elections.

The President also maintained “excellent” net trust ratings in most geographical areas in the country, except areas in Luzon outside Metro Manila.

Duterte kept an “excellent” +92 trust rating in his home region of Mindanao, +73 in Visayas, and +76 in Metro Manila. But his score dropped by a grade and six points in Balance Luzon, where he got a “very good” +69.

Duterte’s net trusting rating also remained “excellent” in both rural and urban areas and in most socioeconomic classes.

He maintained an “excellent” rating among class D or “masa” respondents from the previous +78 to +79, and a +72 in class ABC. His ratings, however, dropped by a grade and 12 points in class E to a “very good” +67.

The survey, which garnered 1,200 adult respondents throughout the country, has a margin of error of plus/minus 3 points for national percentages and plus/minus 6 percent each for Metro Manila, Luzon areas outside Manila, the Visayas and Mindanao. CDG
