CABANATUAN CITY, Philippines—Chemicals believed to be used in making shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) were found dumped along the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEx) that runs through Nueva Ecija’s Cuyapo town and Tarlac’s Pura town on Tuesday.
In Cuyapo, PO3 Larry Tesado, the police investigator, said they discovered several 2.5-liter glass bottles labeled “amino butabe,” “benzaldehyde” and “Nitroetahe.” He said there were other containers with no labels, filled with liquid substances.
Tesado said the chemicals were discovered at 2:45 p.m. along Km 155+900 of TPLEx.
On the same day, big glass containers with liquid substances were found near the section of TPLEX that courses through Pura, according to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
The agency did not provide further details, at press time.
In August, chemicals were dumped along five sections of the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEx) traversing Pampanga’s Porac town and Mabalacat City, and Tarlac’s Concepcion town. RAM
