2 drug suspects killed after threatening cops with grenade in Rizal

LOS BAÑOS, Laguna—Two suspected drug pushers were killed in a buy-bust operation in Taytay, Rizal after threatening police with a hand grenade early Friday.

According to a report from Rizal police, a shootout took place during a buy-bust operation that targeted suspects Renato Adane and his companion identified only as alias “Satan” around 1 a.m. in Barangay (village) Dolores.

The suspects must have sensed that they were dealing with the police that Adane suddenly drew out a .38 caliber gun while his companion took out the hand grenade and threatened to set it off, prompting the authorities to open fire.

Both suspects were instantly killed, the police report said.
