Heavy rains poured over Metro Manila and nearby provinces on Thursday afternoon.
Metro Manila, Zambales (Botolan, San Antonio, Castillejos, Subic), Rizal (Antipolo, San Mateo), Bulacan (San Jose del Monte), Laguna (San Pablo, Alaminos) and portions of Cavite, Batangas and Quezon were experiencing thunderstorms that may last 1 to 2 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said in a thunderstorm advisory at 1:30 p.m.
Thunderstorms are also expected in Bataan, Pampanga, other areas of Zambales, Rizal, Bulacan and Laguna within the next 2 hours.
The state weather bureau also warned of strong winds, lightning and possible flash floods.
A low pressure area located 360 kilometers east of Hinatuan in Surigao del Sur also brought rains to parts of Mindanao midday Thursday.
Heavy rains or a yellow rainfall alert was raised over Dinagat Islands, Siargao Islands, Agusan del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental, Camiuin, Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Compostela Valley and Davao Oriental.
