Peasant leader shot dead in Isabela

DELFIN ALBANO, Isabela – The leader of a farmers group was shot dead on Wednesday (Sept. 7) by three heavily armed men at 8 a.m.

Ariel Diaz was attacked at his farm in Villa Pereda by gunmen who rode on motorcycles.

Diaz was chairperson of the Danggayan Dagiti Mannalon ti Isabela (DAGAMI), an affiliate of the Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas. He was also chair of the inter-municipal Peasant Alliance against Foreign Landgrabbing in Northern Isabela.
