Palace believes war against illegal drugs successful
Despite its imperfections, the Duterte administration considered the war versus illegal drugs as “successful”.
“We continue to recognize the President’s campaign against drugs has been successful,” Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella said in a news briefing on Tuesday.
Abella said the government is on a momentum in its crackdown against illegal drugs.
“A world-record of more than 600,000 surrenderees proved the effectivity of the campaign. While it has not been perfect, it gives the government the momentum to move on to the next phase,” he said.
As of August 29, an Inquirer Kill List has recorded 802 drug-related killings since President Rodrigo Duterte assumed his post.

But Duterte has repeatedly said his war against illegal drugs would be unforgiving.
The President has said there was “always a price” to pay for safety, citing his experience in ridding the streets of Davao City with criminals.
He said he takes full responsibility on police operations hunting down drug suspects and criminals.
In one of his speeches, the chief executive said he was willing to go to prison for his government’s no-nonsense war against illegal drugs. TVJ
