Senator Leila de Lima confirmed that “Warren,” whom President Rodrigo Duterte alleged is her new lover, is part of her security staff.

“He’s part of my staff. He’s part of my security,” De Lima said in a press conference on Thursday.

Asked if she personally requested for “Warren,” the senator said that he was just assigned to her.

“He was just assigned to me and he’s no longer connected with the MMDA (Metropolitan Manila Development Authority),” she said.

She also took offense at the allegation that she and Warren had a romantic relationship, saying that it is “very malicious.”

The senator, who has been at the receiving end of Duterte’s tirades recently, said that she is deeply offended by allegations imputing her alleged “immorality.”

She said that her private life can only be put under scrutiny if it has already affected her duties as a public servant.

“It’s very offensive. As a woman, it’s very offensive. Ayoko talaga nagtatouch sa personal na buhay ko. Personal na buhay is personal na buhay. Sagrado po para sa akin yan (I don’t want people touching on my personal life. Personal life is personal life. It’s sacred for me). You can only start prying into my private life yung nakikita niyo na (if you see) that is affecting the performance of my work,” the feisty senator said. RAM/rga
