A driver of transport network vehicle service Grab Philippines is under probe for allegedly threatening to shoot a passenger.

In a now viral post on Facebook, one Benj Hung said the driver of vehicle with plate number VF 6483 supposedly asked him to get out of the car at one point of the ride and threatened to shoot him with his gun.

Upon alighting and walking toward a crowded area, Hung said the driver was shouting “Hoy ano laban ka (Hey, won’t you fight back)?”

In a statement, Grab Philippines said the driver has already been suspended pending investigation.

“The driver in question is now suspended from the system while awaiting the results of the fact-finding team. Should the driver involved or any other driver for that matter, be found guilty of compromising the safety of Grab rides, he will be permanently banned from the system and his records will be submitted to the proper authorities for due process,” Grab said in a statement on Wednesday.

“Should he be found innocent, the company will stand by him and work towards rebuilding his integrity together,” it added. YG/JE
