Lacson gets third Senate committee chairmanship

Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson on Tuesday got his third committee chairmanship after he was elected head of the committee on accounts.

Lacson is the chair of the Senate committees on public order and dangerous drugs and games and amusement.

Senate Majority Leader Vicente “Tito” Sotto, meanwhile, has been elected chair of the committee on ethics.

Sotto is also the Senate committee chair on rules.

Sotto and Lacson are part of the so-called “supermajority” bloc in the Senate, composed of senators who elected Senate President Aqulino “Koko” Pimentel III when the 17th Congress opened on July 25./rga
