Husband kills wife in Cagayan for refusing to reconcile

CITY OF ILAGAN — A 52-year-old man surrendered to  police last week after killing his wife in Aparri, Cagayan, according to a belated police report.

Demy Taloza, 52, said he beat his 42-year-old wife, Marites, with a piece of wood on Aug. 19 for refusing to reconcile after an argument.

Marites, an overseas contract worker, had returned to take care of their ailing child, said Chief Insp. Pepito Mendoza, Aparri police chief.

Demy punched his wife, who managed to run outside of the house. The man caught up with his wife and beat up Marites into unconsciousness. She was declared dead on arrival at a local hospital.
