QC advises residents along Tullahan River to evacuate area

The Quezon City government on Saturday afternoon advised residents near Tullahan River to evacuate the area as La Mesa Dam neared its spilling level.

In an advisory, Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista said barangays (villages) along Tullahan River, from Fairview to the boundary of Bagbag and Baesa, had been prepared for evacuation since Friday.

La Mesa Dam has been placed on red alert as of 12 noon as its water level reached 79.62 meters or just 53 centimeters before overflowing.

The QC government said its barangay disaster risk reduction and management teams were also on red alert.

Heavy rains and floods continue to affect Metro Manila and neighboring areas due to the southwest monsoon or habagat.
