ORMOC CITY—A suspected drug peddler was killed in an alleged shootout with the police along Hermosilla Drive, District 25, in this city on Saturday night.
Guillermo Sulibran Jr., 33, died while being treated at the Ormoc District Hospital past 7 p.m.
SPO3 Kenneth Valley of Ormoc police said a composite team from Police Station 1 and the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Force (Caidsotf) was organized to conduct the buy-bust against Sulibran.
He said an undercover policeman and Sulibran agreed to hold the transaction along Hermosilla Drive in front of a restaurant in the area.
But Sulibran noticed that he was dealing with a policeman and took out his caliber .38 revolver to shoot the poseur buyer.
Valley said the companion of the policeman acted ahead and fired at Sulibran before the latter could pull the trigger.
Sulibran was brought to the hospital where he died 20 minutes later.
Police recovered P5,000 in marked money and big plastic sachets containing 16 sachets of shabu worth 500,000. JE/rga
