DILG chief vows to go after cons using his name to dupe LGU execs
Interior Secretary Ismael “Mike” Sueno on Friday vowed to run after individuals soliciting up to P200,000 from mayors and congressmen on his behalf.
In a hastily called press briefing at Camp Crame on Friday, Sueno issued a warning against those asking money from local executives.
“I am warning them na kung mahuli namin sila (that if we catch them), immediately we will file cases against them. Kulong talaga ito saka manloloko itong mga taong ito (These cons will be jailed). We are trying our best to arrest (them),” Sueno said.
The secretary said reports that reached his office revealed that some mayors and congressmen in the provinces are receiving requests from several individuals to deposit P75,000, P100,000 and P200,000 into their accounts on his behalf.
In the advisory Sueno issued, he said: “Please be informed that I do not authorize anybody to solicit money for and on my behalf, nor do I allow any form of solicitation, for whatever purpose, particularly from local chief executives.”
