Basilan jail officer hurt in shooting
ZAMBOANGA CITY—A jail officer assigned at the Basilan provincial jail was reported to be in critical condition after he was shot by his apparent business partners in Isabela City on Saturday.
Supt. Jerome Afuyog Jr., officer in charge of the Isabela City police office, said Nasser Aisal, 42, sustained three gunshot wounds in Barangay Seaside around 3:55 p.m.
The suspects were identified only as Wahab Idrus and a Kuyong.
Afuyog said it appeared the victim and the suspects had a serious misunderstanding over their beach sand business.
Aisal, assigned at the Basilan Provincial Reformatory Center, was rushed to a hospital where he remains in critical condition, Afuyog said.
A manhunt for the suspects was being conducted, he added.
