Suspected drug pusher in Bohol killed in buy-bust
PANGLAO, Bohol – A suspected top drug pusher here was killed in an alleged shootout with the police on Saturday morning.
Police claimed that Rico Hernani, 41, a resident of Barangay (village) Lourdes in Panglao town, resisted arrest during a buy-bust operation at 9:55 a.m. at his residence.
PO2 Reynante Fuconan, Panglao police investigator, said an undercover policeman brought a sachet of suspected shabu from Hernani.
He said the suspect may have sensed that his customer was a police officer and ran outside his house.
The police chased Hernani but the latter drew his handgun and fired.
Fuconan said Hernani was in the top ten list of illegal drug personalities in Panglao.
Seized from Hernani were seven sachets of suspected shabu and a .38 caliber.
The police also arrested Hernani’s live-in partner, Rubelyn Miranda, 28; and alleged runner, Manuel Suganob, 38.
Suganob yielded to the police two sachets of shabu, while Miranda had five sachets when they were arrested.
The two were detained at the Panglao Police Station pending filing of charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
Fuconan confirmed the rampant use of illegal drugs in Panglao.
The Bohol Provincial Police Office has included Panglao in the top 10 areas infiltrated by the illegal drugs trade.
The nine others were Tagbilaran City and the towns of Inabanga, Getafe, Talibon, Clarin, Ubay, Carmen, Tubigon and Dauis. JE
